Not anytime soon, breeding Nikki? before I get the whole "Why breed!? You can buy!!" Yes, I know that..I am for that 100%.. BUT, in the future I do want to breed my mare Nikki. I feel as though she definitely has the bloodlines and potential to produce a great barrel prospect when paired with a great stallion..and the stallion I pick will be nothing great than amazing, proven, great mind, already has off spring performing well.. The whole deal...

That said.. Nikki is registered with AQHA as an appendix.
Nu Kinda Nic Quarter Horse
She definitely has better than a good bit when it comes to her pedigree. She has pretty nice conformation, her back is a tad long..She's done great for me running barrels. I haven't had a chance to go any higher than a state level with her because my current financial situation, putting myself through college sucks, and I'd rather have all of my bills paid and taken care of instead of having to struggle through bills to make it to a horse show. I had to drop out of the state qualifying this year because of family drama..I'm living in SC for the summer and had to miss the last half of the season :( ..We were overall champion in our associations, going to NBHA State and World...She is a fantastic mare when it comes to personality, temperament, and mindset. She is always happy to see me and loves her job. I've never had any soundness issues with her, no health issues at all..

I'll add a few pictures also..

Lol Don't mind the other two fatties..Nikki is the middle horse.

And then on the left.

I won't be breeding her until 2014..Yes, this is far away I know.. But I'll have graduated college, more financially stable, I'll be able to dedicate WAY more time to my crew than I do now, and I am VERY good friends with my vet, who will be seeing Nikki all throughout the pregnancy and the foal after.. LOVE, love, love my vet. I've been using the Baker's for years and never had one problem with them..

Now..*drum roll* The stallion I've picked for Nikki..Absolutely LOVE him.

I've followed this horse for years and have always loved him, yes, he's gorgeous but he's also SO versatile and his offspring show and have SO much athletic ability and good mindset. I am sure that he and Nikki would compliment each other amazing.. She's a little taller and narrow, he's short and stocky..Every thing about the pair to me seems like they would mesh very well to make a fabulous little barrel prospect for me... I know his stud fee is expensive, but hey, if I'm going to breed something it's sure going to be something spectacular. I'm not one to breed just because I want a cute baby either, it's an investment for me..and I'm not going into it just hoping for a cute wittle foal, I know there is more to it than that and I am fully aware about all of the risks and responsibilities that come with breeding and then the care of the foal..

So..there is my little master plan in the making..Can you tell I've been thinking about this?... What do y'all think? Am I just seeing things because I want to? Or would be be a smart move for me?

I hope so BRA..

Janna, I can't control what Sherry put on him for that run, but I'm not going to tell someone who has won so much in the barrel world what she's doing wrong.. I personally wouldn't use a bare cable but that's her choice.

I think you have it all planned out!! Your not just one of those other people who want 'a cute foal from there great mare!!'

I also wonder why she doesnt have the tie down tucked under the breast collar.

That is an absolute dynamic cross. When you are ready, go for it.

I've been a fan of Dinero for such a long time. He's proven in the arena and in the breeding shed. You can't go wrong with him.

Who knows..personal preference.. I don't tuck mine under my breast collar but I do have a "keeper" that's looped to the front/middle of my beast collar.
