Your mare looks ready!! Exciting! Post lots of pics of the foal and the birth when she pops!

I agree on the halter, not only can the foal get caught in it, but it is a huge hazard with catching on fence, gates, latches.....scary!

Yes this is the pen she will have the baby in. We have her stall where she will have the baby she wont be out where its muddy and the white rail fence in the background we are putting so chain link up so the foal can't get caught up in the rails. My husband has been gone and I have a bum are so I could not do it myself. That's why I was so stressed when he was gone and hoping she wouldnt have it while he was gone there is alot we needed to do before she has it. This rain and snow is not giving us a break it needs to dry up here bad.

Ahh Ok. I was just going to suggest something needs to be put on the white panels.
        04-13-2011, 05:27 PM
Yes, the foal will go right through those white panels.

Can't wait to see the baby! And mamma has such stout thick legs! I bet the baby will be a stunner!

I though would be more worried about chainlink, then the panels. With chainlink the foals legs are so tiny and their so naughty i'd be worried his little feet would get caught in the chainlink more than the panels.

We will just have to hope that don't happen. Chain link is all we got to put on the white fence I am sure it will be fine. I am always out there so I will keep a close eye on them and if they do get into trouble I will move them to my neighbours corral. He don't have horses and that's where we are keeping our other two right now. She is still showing no signs of having this baby any time soon.
