Process to getting Sonya in foal! :D

So we have decided on breeding my mare, Sonyas a Foxy Freeway to Berry Sweet Whizard. She's been being checked all week for ovulation, and today when checked she had two follicles, one that is 33 and the other 31. We are hoping one takes over as we do NOT want twins, and will not have twins. Vet says she has a slow growing follicle as Monday she was late twenties, a 26 and 28 I believe? So we're checking her again early Friday and will see then

That's exciting! Hopefully she catches!

Now, forgive me if this is a dumb question, but this is unfamiliar territory for me. The numbers you're citing, are those in reference to the size of the follicles? Again, sorry if I sound like a dummy asking.

Yup, they're the sizes of the follicle. My vet inseminates when they're in the forties, so she's got a little ways to go :)

Today her follicles were a 45 and a 33, so one took over (luckily) but vet said there is still a possibility for twins so we will really have to check when we ultrasound. :)

QR: Please note, it is not just follicle size that determines ovulations but also odeama. Dee ovulates at a 38-43mm size, some mares go into the 50s!

I'm aware, he said she has a lot of it, I'm not sure how they're sure it or anything though lol. My mare is usually high 40s- 50s. But we won't be inseminating her until late tonight anyway since it has to be counter to counter, our only other option would be wait until late tomorrow, and were scared it'll be too late since she's growing 6mm everyday so far.

I would imagine she would ovulate overnight/tomorrow.

Don't worry if you just miss ovulation, scan eveyr 6 hrs if possible. We AI'ed dee after ovulation and she took...and she's a maiden!

That's what we're hoping, she's also a maiden. Hopefully she takes the first time we believe we have a good chance as long as we get it into her tonight. We'll just have to wait and see :)

Best of luck and keep us updated! Dee took 2nd time about but we did try very early in the year and the weather deteriorated badly between insemination and scanning. We think she was probably still in her transitional heats.

OOO exciting! Just have more decorum when you see the blob on the scan I burst into tears today
