Registering A foal

Registering A foal

This is NOT for my mare, it has me curious though, I am NOT going to breed her anytime soon, if at all.

I am wondering if AQHA allowed a foal to be regestered if only one parent was registered. Using my mare for an example (don't care if she is registered or not), her Dam is a registered AQHA mare, and her sire is able to be registered with AQHA, but never was. So if I did want to register my mare, would both parents have to be registered.

I have heard of Arabians being able to be registered if only one parent is, but I was wondering about QH's also...

Arabians can be registered as Half Arab if one parent is registered. They have rules against registering a foal as half Arab if the other parent is registerable as purebred but had not yet been registered.

Yes, both parents have to registered with the AQHA in order for the resulting foal to be registered. The price goes up each year the horse gets older, and breeding reports from the sire's owner have to be filed and signed, etc, etc. Horses that are offspring from one registered Arab parent can be registered in the 1/2 Arab registery, not the full blood registry.

Okay, thanks, I wasn't planning on getting Breeze registered, as she is already 2, but I was just thinking about if in the future, if I got a foal like her, with one parent registered. But if I want to enter in breed shows or something like that, I will just get an already registered horse.
