While this is not my first foaling experience, it is my first time starting a thread about it, and I thought who better to share this with than others who would find my incessant babbling about udders and vulvas slightly more interesting than my non horsey friends
This is Ricki, our polocrosse mare. She's a black (sunfaded atm) 14.3h Australian Stock Horse cross Quater horse, who's built like a 44 galleon drum, with the pushing power to show it! (Hence being an amazing number 2 or 3 player). She is due 4/11/13, and her last foal was born on exactly 340 days gestation.
The stallion she is in foal to an Anglo Arabian, registered name Aloha Desert Minstrel, who was extensively shown and won the title of reserve east coast champion here in Australia, he's brown and around the 16.2h mark, have seen his progeny and he throws lovely tall babies with great movement.
Obviously I could never claim that the foal will have a forever home, as external circumstances are never certain, however I am confident enough that this foal has the best going for it already, and should be campaigned with success in both the showing and the eventing world (my plans for him/her anyway
Her udders have started developing now, not enough to show people though haha, but I did take a couple of photos the other day (also she saw the farrier the day after the photos were taken if anyone was worried about her feet). I have other photos of the stallion, but only this one for the moment as I am on the IPad, it's one from a competition his previous owners had with him - Ricki was bred via live cover. image.jpg
