Sassy has popped! (Pic overload!)

alright, so first, a before picture xD now you can say why I said 'popped'

Sassy dropped her foal late last night, and what a suprise for us when what we saw was two long, fuzzy ears, and a perfect cross dorsal stripe as the tiny litle filly came out! Yes Ladies and Gentlemen, we have our very first minature mule! And not on purpose, either!

We've tried many times to breed our miniature donkey jack to Sassy, but it just never worked. We figured he was infertile, so we stopped trying. Instead, we bred her to a tobiano mini stallion, and when she tested positive a month later, we didn't think anything of it. However, she began to get extremely large, extremely fast, and we were confused! We even thought she had twins in there, she was so large. The picture above is her at what we thought was 9 months (she's not due until late June...or was she?) and when she went into labor we started to get scared thinking we would have a premature foal again! That wasn't the case though, because before the vet could come, a 17 pound miniature mule filly was born! AHA! We were wrong, she WAS born on time!

Evidently when Pedro (the donkey) snuck into the mares pen eleven months ago, he decided that he ought to try one more time and it worked!

And so, with pride, we present to you what might possibly be the cutes mini mule on earth!

at 12 hours old

As of right now, she is unnamed, although theres rumor that two possible names will be Candee and Dumbalina ( poor thing!) Do you guys have any suggestions? Her mothers name is Sassy(Sasafrass) and her father is Pedro!

what amazed me was the perfect little head! Our donkey has great conformation, but his head is a bit of a block, and I hate to say it, but Sassy has a bit of a strange head too. The baby though...perfect. She's such a sweety, too! Runs right up to us when we call.

She has to be the cutest little baby I have ever seen!! I want her!!

When I can't ride anymore, I shall keep horses as long as I can hobble along with a bucket and wheelbarrow. When I can't hobble, I shall roll my wheelchair out by the fence of the field where my horses graze, and watch them!
