Question shipped semen?

I was wondering how much it costs to get shiped semen? I am looking at this stud but he is quite far awawy and want to get semen shipped. His stud fee is $450. I live in saskatchewan and they live in BC if anyone knows how much this would cost or about how much I would really like to know. I really ike this stud and want to get a foal from him.

Contact the stud and ask about shipping would be the way forward

Why not ask the stallion they are a part of what makes of the cost......some stallion owners charge for every collection some give you 2 to 3 collections for usually have to put a deposit down on the equitaner or buy a disposable.

Collection can run you a couple 2 to 3 hundred.....depends on whether the stallion owner is doing it or whether it's done by a vet.

Then at least $50.00 for the container.

Then then the flight.....$50 to a $100.00

When I had semen shipped from Alberta to B. C. From what I can recall it was about a $150.00 total but I did not have to pay a collection fee.

I would estimate up to $500.00 for collection and shipping.

Ok thanks, so really if it went anything like yours did it will be about 5 or 600 bucks? And I will need the vet to AI her but she is cheaoer then most vets bacuase she works out of her home and I don't pay mileage because she like like a mile away.

You should budget for a $1000.00 a cycle that would include the collection, shipment, insemination, and ultrasound at 14 days to check for twins.

I thought you weren't going to breed either one of your mares yet? And it was just a possibility that you were considering and you didn't have any stallions in mind?

No, I said I decided I was going to breed my grade mare as long as she had a clean heathcheck and, I found a stud who I really like and I know for sure does not carry the lethel white gene, he has proven gim self a good horse and has nice conformation, and also will forsure throw a pinto foal.
