Shortest foaling thread ever, he is here!

    Hi all,

I have been lurking for awhile and considered posting my mare and her bump but I just got too busy reading everybody else s threads. I bought a mare on Craigslist about 6 weeks ago who had been bred by the gal's gelding. Yes gelding. She had him castrated and put him right back out with the gals - nuff said.

I have been taking photo's since I bought her and comparing with all of the other mares here. Early this morning my little man was born! I had to make a quick trip to California for business and of course that is when he was born. I have a wonderful neighbor that checked all out and started handling him for me. I can't wait to get home tomorrow to start handling him. Hopefully it won't be too late to make an impression on him.

My mare is an app, 8 years old. I plan to rebreed her to a gaited jack. I need to think of a good name for this little guy, actually he is pretty big.

See my app mule in the background, I hope these attachments work!

Thank you everybody, I can't wait to get home and see him. My neighbor took the pics and I am a bit worried about that right rear let, the pastern looks swollen. I am in Denver waiting for my connection and won't get home until about 4PM today.

I had been avidly reading Lilly's foaling thread by Glynnis because her mare was hanging on like my mare did. This colt is huge, the mare is just under 16 hands and look how tall he is compared to her! I am soooo lucky all went well. I hate it when work gets in the way of my equine!!!!!

It'll be good to have a vet look him over, but he's still unfolding so will strengthen and straighten up pretty quickly... they most always look a little "off" when first born. Congrats, he' s a cute baby :)
