Sneaky mare!!!!

I watched Amber all night long while at work. She acted completely calm and normal. Hubby and my work overlap by a few hours in the morning. She waits for him to get here, with NO SIGNS of foaling, and BAM she starts foaling!!!!!!!

I send hubby home and call my friend JoAnn (VERY experienced mini breeder) who lives about ten minutes from me. They get there roughly the same time.

While waiting for them to arrive I"m watching in fear, praying all will be ok! Thank God it was! Soon as that foal was out, I started worrying it wouldn't get out of the sac (common problem with minis) but it did! Was moving around, too.

So Craig gets there just before JoAnn, and I'm sure he was 100% relieved when her car pulled up lol!

But all seems to be well. Craig tied up the placenta, and when it got lower JoAnn re-did it. I saw it come otu and JoAnn take it out of the stall. She dried the foal and did the iodine. Filly stood several times, though not walked just yet.

So now we have a new filly! Craig said she's a LOT smaller than Jewel's colt. I'm told "grey" with a star. Grey is genetically impossible, so I'm assuming that means a silver. Probably silver black, but could be silver bay. No appy spots again :( But that's ok! Healthy foal is all I ask for, a filly even BETTER!

I still have an hour left of work, darn it! Craig had to get someone else to do some of his deliveries since he had to go home.

Aww, congrats on your new little girl! Pictures please when you can get them! She sounds adorable, and there's nothing cuter than a mini foal!

Darn sneaky mare, just HAD to wait until your back was turned!

Filly figured out nursing VERY quickly! Passed lots of meconium. Gets up and down well (she's very careful not to fall down, so sometimes she takes her time to place her legs just right hehe). I think she's a silver black? She has a BIIIIG star and a white nostril.

She has a weird bump on her back. She's kinda odd looking. But sweet and cute. Amber seemed uncomfy so she got some banamine.

My friend was wonderful and not only got up when I called her at 5:30 to go to my place, but she stayed until I got home from work (Craig had to go back to work). She made sure filly pooped, nursed, ect. And she kept the filly warm because she was shivering. BIG THANKS to JoAnn!

JoAnn named her Camelot (because the bump makes her look like a camel). Here she is :)

You can see the bump on the right in this one

My husband got VERY offended when I said she was odd looking: "I STILL LOVE HER!!!" LOL I didn't say I didn't or that she wasn't cute ;) And even though he's always saying I need to sell some horses, we have too many, he said this girl is staying! I think he's in love :)

She is very cute. I hope her "hump" goes away and/or does not adversely affect her... AWW, he got attached to this girl eh?
