Roan doesnt officially exist in the TB breed so she cannot be roan ... whether she looks like one or not! And no duns in TB's, so rule that one out as well ...

Lizzie - most people have called her DW. There are SO many new classifications to the colour / markings, its hard to keep up at times and really at the end of the day - she is what she is, and she should throw some mighty *interesting* looking dilute foals! I think sabino is passe right now and DW should be used instead ...

I didn't mean actual roan gene roaning, I meant the roaning that is often seen with Sabino or Rabicano (whichever fits, I'm not terribly savvy about all the pinto options out there LOL). I rode a little paint filly for a while that appeared very roan but it was just the sabino gene at work on her. I would guess that's what your new mare has.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

The rabicano gene does give the "effect" of roaning so Im sure she has lots of those white hairs in her body!

Here is a picture of her sire - Puchilingui:

So they do share a lot of the same marking characteristics - he is just a much deeper bay colour than she is - her colouring is much more muted and softer...

Hm, she might look like him when she sheds, except maybe a lighter sorrel...

So glad to hear that Doll is going to you. I will miss seeing her around the farm there! What are your plans for her? I think I have a few pictures of her from a few years back, if I dig them up I'll send them your way!
