Stallion selection

I am planning on breeding my mare, possibly next year, and just wanted some other input on stallions. I want a foal for dressage, more for my enjoyment than to be extremely competitive. Basically, I am not necessarily looking for an upper level mount. I am just wanting other opinions on who best compliments her. I have bred her to Willemoes before but lost that baby. Here are the stallions I am considering:

Both from here, again, have had her in foal to Willy before but lost the baby

Hil Cat Farm

Manhattan from here, I really like him, and I think he would give me versatility

Mannhattan

And I love Friesians and have thought that a cross with her would give me a very nice dressage prospect. I like Friso

Friso, 17 Hand, 1st Premium Friesian Stallion

If anyone has other suggestions, feel free to post them. As far as WBs go, I am only looking at Danish and Oldenburg approved.

Oh, and my mare

What is it you want to do with your foal? Are you keeping it?
My totally bias vote on this one: Friesian but if a performance horse is what you want to do, Manhattan is the one I would go for.

Dressage, and yes it will be mine. I like the Friesian, but I want to make sure I pick an ideal match for her. I was just curious as to what others would think.

She's quite thick already so if you bred to the friesian you would be asking for trouble, unless you want a thick horse. Of the other 2 studs that are left, Manhattan is the most balanced I find. There is something about the conformation of the first that throws me off. He has been around longer tho and has been more proven but I like how the second stud takes those jumps like it's nothing. He seems to be quite plainful and really enjoys what he does.

You know, you can also consider Eelweiss (owned by Avalon). He's quite leggy and tall which imo will compliment your mare nicely. He's Selle Francais, but is there a reason you're only looking at Danish or OLD? I of course love Mannhattan, but for dressage prefer Edelweiss, and am planning to breed back to him this season after my mare foals out. I agree that a Fresian may throw a short, stout baby and I'd go with something taller and leaner myself. Edelweiss has nice bone, but isn't too thick imo and will add some lenght of leg to your mare, overall height, and refinement in the head/throatlatch area.

She is a nice mare. Nice long neck and good type. Maybe a tad longer front leg and a little higher neck set, but the rest seems very good and solid. You might check out Schroeder (Sandro Hit - Escudo I). He is Oldenburg approved and was #1 Hanoverian last year in the breed shows and material was #1 Hanoverian, #4 overall in the nation. Super dressage horses, but he can also jump too.

I will check both of those out a bit more. I have looked at Edelwiess, and definitely like him. I was looking at Danish and OLD because she is already approved Danish and there are OLD inspections close by. I will not be able to afford another mini vacation to go to an inspection. But I think Berry might have said something about him being OLD now as well. I will look into him more. Thanks!
