Hi,
I thought I'd give you a heads up on the perlino stallion I have. I have always thought he would cross very well on arab mares. He is a Doc Bar bred QH that is a 100 % buckskin producer - Color tested EEAACrCr - can only throw buckskins on mares other than dilutes and grays. I can email pics if you are interested. I don't think you should breed to either of them. Neither of them has done anything, and with the economy the way it is I don't think anyone but the best should be breeding. You say you will be keeping the baby forever, but what happens if you or one of your parents loses their job and you cannot afford it anymore? If you must breed, breed to something that has marketability, not just for color or disposition. Also, are you willing to spend the thousands of dollars in vet bills? Special mare care? Why not just buy a weanling if you want a baby so bad? You could probably pick one up for far less than what you will be spending in stud fees and vet bills. I'm not trying to be mean, but be realistic.

Thank you everyone on your opinion on the studs!
I still have allot to decide. I might lease a mare to breed to the Airborne.

A nicely put together, super disposition, and well handled horse always has a home.

Aaaannnd that's the case when there are thousands of people ditching their horses at auctions? I could pick up a horse at New Holland with good breeding and a great disposition for less than $300. People are literally dumping very well bred and very well trained horses for next to nothing. Like I said, I wouldn't choose either of them. If you must breed, pick a stud that has actually done something so the foal will be marketable. You cannot predict that you will have a baby forever. And it will be much, MUCH cheaper if you just buy a weanling. Stud fees, vet bills, things go wrong. In this economy it's just not worth it to risk your mare for a kyoot baby. Unless you plan on showing the baby and making something of it.
