Well, my mare Sunny went into labor on Sunday. Vet came by to check on her, found that the foal was not moving and was mal-positioned. Knees bent towards chest and head turned backwards to the left. Sunny had to be rushed to the vet where the foal was presumed dead. My vet had to get the foal out. It was horrible. In order to get the foal out of her, they had to cut off one leg and the foal's head.
It was a cremello colt, in which we named Moon.
The only good thing out of this is that Sunny will make a complete and total recovery in the next week or so. Such a hard and tragic ending to what was such a long pregnancy. Wont be breeding her again. Vet thinks that foal probably died because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. Just all in all bad luck.
