I wish I would have posted this a few months ago, but it's not too late!
This is my 8 y/o mare, Sweetheart. She's expecting a foal to my gelding (up until december he was our stallion) any day now.
This is Sweetie, last summer. She's an APHA Bay Tobiano.
This past January. (bad cell phone pic, sorry)
Still determined to roll around like a pig even with a preggo belly.
This was about 3 weeks ago. I forgot to put the ones from last weekend on my computer. :(
Even looking at these pics now, I swear she looks so much bigger in person.
And this is papa. He's a 6 y/o AQHA Foundation (90%) Red Dun. His name is Cowboy. :)))
As of yesterday morning the barn manager confirmed that Sweetie was in very early stages of labor, which we all know can last a while! She said she checked on her at 4am and found her biting at her flanks, waxing and tail looks almost dislocated is so loose! She said her vulva looks about 4 inches longer since the weekend and super loose. She said she thought maybe a baby in early morning but she appears more uncomfortable but still eating hay.
I waited up all night (I'm only 15 minutes away from where I board) but she said still no progress. The baby is being stubborn! I'm thinking we'll be hearing the pitter patter of tiny hooves by this time tomorrow or the weekend at the very latest!
Of course, as long as mama and baby are healthy that's all that matters. But I'm really hoping for a tobiano or a tovero.
