I recently bought a wonderful yearling Appendix filly. She is developing very nicely and I have been around several of her half siblings that shared her dam. I am familiar with AQHA bloodlines and I am very thrilled with what blood she has, but I am looking for insight into her TB lines. Her dam was out of a TB mare.
Anyone who is familiar with TB blood, I would love to know more about what she has behind her. I have heard of Native Dancer and I rode a lovely mare that was a grand daughter of Northern Dancer, but my TB knowledge pretty much ends there.
So from what I see, Matylda Baye is the TB in your horse's lines.
First name on the billboard is Mill Reef, a US-bred horse exported to England where he had a very successful race career with several Grade one wins.
Then Never Bend - another successful racer and a very notable sire with 60 black type winners stemming from him.
Princequillo - very notable broodmare sire. Carried the X-factor heart (remember Secretariat's massive heart that factored into his amazing wins? this is where it came from)
Count Fleet - American Triple Crown Winner.
Nearco - very notable sire
Native Dancer - winner of all but one of his races (the Kentucky Derby by a nose). nicknamed the Grey Ghost, he came around about the same time as televised races and was well recieved because in a world of bays and chestnuts who all looked relatively the same in black and white, he was easily recognized with his grey coat and bright white face.
Northern Dancer - best horse to come out of Canada, held the record for the Kentucky Derby until Secretariat came along. Considered leading sire - ever.
Bold Ruler - Secretariat's sire, and also an excellent race horse in his time.
Gallant Man - a record setter in his time, set records at the 6,8 and 12 furlong markers that stood for nearly 20 years.
Nashua - considered a great racehorse, he beat Swaps in a match race.
Thanks! I am glad to have some insight into her bottom side.
