Thinking about breeding.

Soo..Alahna's progressing through training very well and her patterns are great for only just now running them (not pushing her). Thus, if she does well this show season I've been debating on breeding her once instead of buying another prospect.

I understand she's a little over at the knee and has a slightly longer back than I'd like on a barrel horse, but neither have given her set backs. The knees can be seen in one pic, but it also over exaggerates them a bit since she's standing funny (the one with her facing right).

Aside from her being a mare, she's a great find (rescued her from a bad situation). She's beyond athletic, she hauls butt if I push her, she loves cows (odd being an ottb), and she can sit her butt down and spin right along with the QHs.

So anywho, I'm trying to decide whether to breed her..I think she has nice confo aside from her knees..but they also haven't given her any issues on some pretty rough trails, nor on the patterns..so I'm kind of overlooking that.

I think her breeding is decent as well. She's 15.1hh, turning 8 next month, maiden, and gives everything I ask of her her all.

So, if I were to breed her, it'd be next year. I'm thinking she'd cross well with stock breeds or halflinger (no one around here buys papers, they don't even add dollars on a price unless the horse shows breed shows, which the majority of our horse population doesn't).

Soo..whatcha think?

That mare is very well bred.
The photos are not the best to judge from but she is over at the knees. More than I would like but you said it might just be the way she is standing.
If you want a barrel horse I would pass on the haflinger. In fact they are one of the breeds I cannot understand the need to cross with.
A QH or Paint would give you a better prospect and the foal could be registered as an appendix. They make great barrel horses.
A TB stallion with more bone density would be my preference. With her pedigree you might get a very nice TB.
Good luck whatever you decide. Shalom
