I haven't been doing a lot around here lately, but I figured I would start a foaling thread for my mare, Tiara. She is a 13 year old registered Haflinger mare, and she this will be her 4th foal, though our first. She is bred to Wild Dreams, also a registered Haflinger.
Tiara was a sort of rescue. She wasn't is terrible shape when we got her, but thank god we got her when we did. We later heard that several horses that were at the same farm died from neglect.
Anyways, the summer after we got her, we had a scare with a false pregnancy. We were very anxious as we we not prepared at all for a foal. But then, when the vet told us it was a false pregnancy, we found we had actually really been looking forward to it. So, the next spring we found a nice stud and had her bred, this time on purpose.
She was at the stallion's June 7th to June 22nd, 2012, but didn't come into heat until June 14th. So, she is due anywhere from May 14-22, 2013.
This is our first foal. My mom worked at some breeding stables and training farms when she was younger, but we have never foaled a mare of our own before. So, it'll be exciting! We've got everything ready, a nice big foaling stall, a complete foaling kit, ect. We are also planning on inprinting the little guy, so we have that kit ready too. Oh, and my new room in the barn is all set. I do NOT want to miss this!
Alright, I know pictures are required, so here you all go:
