Was a transfer date put on the signed papers?

I don't have the transfer papers in front of me atm but I do believe so yes

I just checked and I don't think there is a time limit for transfers. I thought that there was, but I don't see that referenced. Go ahead and transfer ASAP, however. That way you don't run into a snag if the rules change. :)

I transfered two horses papers with almost a year of purchase date and it was ok without penalties. But that's something I won't do again though. But - would get it in as soon as you can

I don't believe so... I sold my first horse about 4 1/2 years ago to a lady, who, 45 days after she purchased the mare, decided she didn't want her and demanded we refund her money and take the mare back. Well, needless to say that never happened. However, we found out that she NEVER signed the transfer papers until last year when she decided to make her a broodmare. So I don't believe there is a limit :)

Green Broke
I didn't turn mine in once for around 4 years. My late gelding was turned in 3 years after I bought him, and he passed away 2 days later :( Never told the AQHA that either....oops. Lol

Thanks for sharing justjump :) I had looked at the AQHA website and couldn't find anything anywhere and from what you guys have told me I don't feel so nervous about waiting to get the papers transferred until after he is gelded... MangoRoX87,so sorry to hear about your loss :( I lost my boy in my avatar not long after I got him back from training and we had just found our rhythm together and were riding so well....
