Temping is a much more reliable indicator of impending parturition. However, one has to be comfortable with doing so (though, imo, it is something every pet/horse owner should know how to do).
Waiting for the milk to drip isn't the best thing to wait for in some mares. My sister's mare delivered all of her foals within the hour her milk began to drip (she was watched constantly to know this).
There are many signs to watch. And some mares are more determined than others to avoid delivering on their human's terms. Posted via Mobile Device
