waiting on Fancy to foal

Fancy was due on Sunday (343rd day) and I've been going back and forth to the barn to check on her. I work and it is so hard to sit here having to wait until I go home to check on her.
My husband is suppose to check on her and call me if she goes into labor.
When should I get worried about her being late???

I have had friends mares go a full year :) Hate to tell you that. There really is no exact science. Even if you saw the stallion breed her the fertilized egg can float for a bit before attaching.

Most vets will never induce labor because it usually ends in a very bad result.

The best way to tell if a mare is close is by her bag. When you can get hot sticky wax looking milk she's very close. When you have a bag that is hot to the touch again foaling is very close.

If you don't have a lot of experience you can use Pool strips to predict foaling. Just buy them at Walmart. Dilute the milk with distilled water. Dip the stick in. When you see the calcium go up and the PH suddenly drop foaling is usually within hours. If the PH Is high she's probably not going to foal for at least 24 hours

If you can invest in a camera in the barn it will save you all those trips. Its about impossible to catch a mare foaling by just running out to the barn every few minutes

Good luck

Foal
I knew about the waxing, but have not seen anything yet.
She had a foal two years ago and I never noticed any waxing I know I had checked her late evening before she had the foal the next morning. I know I will probably miss the foaling.

Sending prayers all goes well!! Do we have any pics??
Xena showed no signs. She was a maiden mare. Then only thing she had was a small bag that was tight and warm to the touch. No wax, not much pacing, eating good.....really didnt see any other signs she might foal except a little loose in the back end...then bam! Got a baby over night! She sure had me fooled!!

Red face

I had taken one pic on Saturday, but now my camera is giving me problems. Fancy is a little loose around her tail as well, that's why I keep thinking she'll have it soon. Bag seems to be be pretty full.
Thanks for responding, I'm just worried I guess.
