Waiting for this mare to foal!

This isn't my mare, but I look after her and others for their owner just like they were mine. Her name is Nellie and she had her foal by my place last year. She's due to foal in a couple weeks or so. I just hope she doesn't tease me by holding onto her foal for so long like last year!

Anyways, I thought I'd put up some pics so you can see her. I'll add more every few days till she foals. If you have any thoughts on how ready you think she looks to have her baby, I'd love to hear them! There's another mare that is due to foal in a month or so and I'll start a thread on her later and put up pictures.

Pretty mare and looks like your wait wont be too much longer!

I have to say though I never like to see ribs on a pregnant mare. I would definitely up her feed or get her on better feed. Foals born to mares like this many times are thin and down on the fetlocks.

Yes, this mare can be a real hard keeper. The other mare is in excellent shape and never has problems. Now that there is fresh grass rather than just hay she is starting to put on more weight though. I think by the time she foals she should be looking real good. At least it was that way last year and she had a real healthy foal. I'm not sure if the owner is planning on putting her on a different food or not - maybe. I could mention it to her and see what she's planning. Thanks for all the compliments - I love these mares just like they were my own!

I'm putting up a few more pictures. Do you think her bag looks fuller? I've been able to milk her and she has clear liquid that is slightly sticky. Also, this morning I noticed that she had very runny poo which she hasn't had before. Almost like cow pies. I've noticed they only do this just before foaling but I thought she had a week or so to go still. Do you think she could be having it right away? She has been doing tail rubbing too. Anyways, when she does have it, I'll be sure to post lots of pictures!

Her bag looks good to go, muscles by her tail all relaxed.... I know with mine, as soon as I get stickiness to their milk, they foal that night... but others it takes some time and makes more changes... But I think it'll be soon! :)
