WELCOME to the first of our 2012 foal crop!

WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST ADDITION!

Born Friday, April 20th 2012 at 4:00 am in the cruddiest weather imaginable (so typical, isn't it? )

Here you go guys, Halter's second ever miniature mule filly, by our miniature silican donkey, Now You've Dun It (Pedro) out of Saide's Beacon (Saide!) She was born two weeks before her due date but is healthy, happy, and full of that trademark 'sass' that we know her mom by so well!

She appears to be chestnut, although chestnut, dun, grey, and palomino were genetic possibilities ^^ 13 pounds 12 oz and blue eyed! Or atleast, we're pretty sure she's blue eyed. Its hard to tell since most babies have smokey blue eyes when they're born, but hers have a definite crystal blue rim around them which is pretty darn exciting!

The vet came out to check on the two of them as soon as he could and to check the placenta (Saide has had a red bag baby before, so we're extra cautious) and says that both are in great health. He also made the remark that 'you're going to have your hands full with that one' which kind of scares me I've never seen a foal as independant as she is from day one. Unless she's nursing or napping, she wants nothing to do with mama, and she's even tried rearing and kicking at her when mama's in the way of what she's wanting to do or trying to bathe her. And I'm just sitting her thinking 'what have we gotten ourselves into?' XD

On to the pictures!

very sturdy and well built. We're pleased!

'what are YOU?!'

snack time!

See all of that mud? Yeah. That was caused by the huge downpour that we had in the middle of the night...while out watching her be born!

I don't know about those tall skinny things, ma. They're pretty ugly...

You're supposed to...eat this stuff?

Well ok...if you say so.

OH MY MILK IT MADE A SOUND. MOM DID YOU HEAR THAT?!

Thanks for staring at me like some huge vulture and making weird awwing sounds! You can leave now. No seriously. You can.

Oh, and once again- we need NAME IDEAS!

Waresbare- She's no bigger than one either! XD She's a TINY little thing, though I suppose that's to be expected. Her mama is only 30" tall, and her daddy is 31". She's no higher than my knees right now!

We were thinking that Saide was going to give birth to a mammoth though, with as big as she got O_o

She is adorable! I think chestnut, looking at these pics. However, I don't know anything about donk genes, so could be thrown by the addition of those

Cmarie- haha, well if you do- pick a particularly docile, forewards thinking Jack and a docile, people friendly mare to get the best foal! I think this little girl is going to have just a little too much attitude. Blame her mama xD They're a lot different to train too. She's extremely bold and already demands that she has things her way! She threw a proper hissy fit earlier when I tried to move them to another pen, snorting, harumphing and all!

Chiilaa- I'm pretty sure she's chestnut too. Its a bit hard to tell though! I'm kind of dissapointed that she doesn't have the cross that her half sister (Ditzee, who is now a yearling and in a new showing home) had, but she's still absolutely adorable!

Ace- XD isn't it halarious?! She has the funniest facial expressions.

Any name ideas yet, guys?
