Hey all. I'm planning on breeding my 2003 Paso Fino mare for the first time next year, and think I've finally picked out the stud I want (after looking for years!). I'm not looking to sell this foal--I know it's not good to breed sedimentally, but I have my reasons to breed. First, as I live in the midwest, there are literally no Paso Finos around here (as it is, I will be doing AI for breeding), and secondly, most of the Paso Finos that I have looked at don't have the versatility that I have in my mare. She is not only a great trail horse with very smooth corto and largo, but we also compete in open barrel racing, pole bending, keyhole and other games at shows. I've had my mare since the day she was born, so I do have experience with foals.
For pedigree info, go to Welcome to Paso Registry. The stud's name is El Pastor del Juncal and the mare's name is Mi Sueno Viene Verdad.
Here are some additional photos and I believe a photo on the stud's website: http://www.ro-noranch.com/stallion.html

He is very easy going and used a youth horse, which I think is something that would be great to pass on to offspring, as Pasos tend to be a little hot. He also has a heavier build than some of the flat-sided Pasos I've seen, and I really like the way he's put together--his neck and hindquarters look very nice. Being a fino horse, he also has a shorter back, which I need to hopefully mesh well with my mare. He's a little short--13.2, but Pasos are very strong and shouldn't have any problems. As an added plus, all of this stud's offspring have been grey--they haven't had him tested for homozygous or not though.
Here is my mare as well: She's 14 hands and going to be 8 years old.

So what do you think of this match? I'll be using the foal for the same thing as I'm using the mare for--gaming and trail riding, and whatever else we decide to try! I'm looking for a versatile horse with a willing temperament.
