A mare is most fertile from 3 - 15 years of age.
Hope this helps =)

A friend of mine, bred her Saddlebred mare, for the first time at 22 years of age. She foaled to a famous Arabian with no trouble. Then she bred her once more and not again. No trouble either time.

I know of one Gypsy Horse mare, whom we believe has been bred every year for the last possibly 25 years.

I'm not suggesting mares every be bred at these ages, but just to point out that there is really no telling how long mares can still produce.

Depends on whether she is a maiden mare or not.
I wouldnt want a mare to have her first foal any older then about 15 years old. If she has already had a foal then as long as she is in good health, holds her condition and takes then there realy isnt much of a limit.
I do know of some studs with 28 yearold broodies but normaly that is thier last foal

RIDE your horse FORWARDS and keep him STRAIGHT

So would it be ok if she breeds for the first time at 10-12????? Or does it just depend on the mare?

Of course it depends on the individual, but that's a very common age for mares to be bred. You still have a good chance of having a healthy foal at that age.

What breed is she? Why are you planning to breed her?
