Question Whats up with my mare?

Hi, I got a TB mare earlier this year and she and I bonded really great. She follows me everywhere and lays her head on me. Anyway, she foaled early Thursday morning and and up until today she still followed me and nuzzled me. But today, she won't even let me pet her. Until now, she would get between my husband and the colt and push the colt to me. So is she just in a bad mood? She would just stand there and let me groom her and I tried to groom her, and she wouldn't let me get the brushes near her. What's up?

She may possibly be in her foal heat. When most mares come into heat they are usually very night"mare"ish and sicne you've only had her since she was pregnant. She hasn't even been in heat with you. So this could just be that. Don't worry just continue like you usually would. And she will come around!

She is probably protective over her foal and therefore withdrawing from you. As her baby gets older and more independent it will probably go back to the way it was.
