Genetically speaking there is no possible way the embryo can take any trait from the surrogate dam. The genes come from the donor sire and donor dam and everything is preordained before the embryo is placed in the surrogate.

All the surrogate does is provides nutrition, blood and a healthy uterus for the embryo to grow and turn into a foal.
