Any guesses on his breed?

This is my rescue gelding Amadeus. He is clearly part paint but the other breed/breeds are a mystery. I am thinking he is probably a paint/appy mix but I wanted to see what you guys think. He is just about 15 hh.

Appy is just a color breed, so technically if he's not a purebred Paint, you can just call him a pinto. As far as looks go, he looks like a paint-bred horse (quarter horse and thoroughbred influence)

He looks to have mottled skin on his muzzle, so I would be willing to bet that there is SOME appy in him. He also looks to have a bit of white sclera. He is most likely appy/paint/something. :)

Appalousa is more than just a color breed, isn't it? I mean Appaloosas have certain physical characteristics to their body above and beyond the typical coloration patterns.
That horse has the modeling on his muzzle that is typical of an Appaloosa, and he has a long back, which is also typical of Appaloosas

yeah I am pretty sure that an appaloosa is more than a color breed. He is very angular and bony if that helps.

Appaloosa is a color but also a breed. He shows some strong characteristics:

Does he gait? That back, legs, and stance scream TWH to me. Or even standardbred.

Yup, Appaloosa is definitely a breed and not a colour. You shouldn't exactly call a horse Appaloosa coloured. There are different permitted colour patterns in the Appaloosa breed, many of which are also seen in other breeds. For example a leopard Knabstrupper. I can just imagine the owner of said Knabstrupper being a tad offended if you call it an Appaloosa-coloured horse. :P

His facial expressions make me think of Appaloosa. Also the shape of his head. And then the mottling around his muzzle and the bit of white sclera visible. I am thinking the white on his bum could be a lace blanket which would have been more pronounced if he wasn't skewbald. But all of this could be coincidental too, I suppose. ;) Maybe have a look at the temperaments of Appaloosas and see if some of it sounds familiar.
I think this is quite a well-written article about them:
True Appaloosas - A word about Appaloosas, Training Horses, About True Appaloosas, Smart Independent Intelligent Appaloosas Horses.

As to other possible breeds, I have no idea, sorry!

He looks pretty nice for a rescue. What did you rescue him from?
