Right hind, diagonal pair, left fore, that's a canter/gallop.

Georgery- Do you have any full body pictures from the side/conformation pictures?

My first thought when I saw his pictures was, "Tennessee walker." He has the overall build that I see a lot in TW, or just usually gaited breeds. I'm not sure that I see either arabian or quarter horse in him. How old is he again? He's definitely pretty, I love that last picture that you posted (in the first photoset, of him running)!
edit- the more I look at the first photos you posted, the more I come to think that he might actually be a quarab... I take what I said back, he could be a qh/arabian (technically paint/arabian).

side pictures.

Ok, so the owner we got him from made the guess that he was part Arab because he likes to raise his tail strait up.
And her guess that he must be part QH came from the fact that he has a larger head and longer face.
The previous owner had him for two years, the lady they got him from supposedly purchased him from auction around 6 months and only knew he had beautiful markings.
Most of the horse people around here that have seen him believe he has some Saddlebred in him.
I wish there was a good equine DNA registry to find out.
Im currently trying to track down the prior owner...
Thanks again for the insight.
Greg

In these last photos he looks a lot like a draft/paint cross.

I personally don't see Arab in him. Raising the tail straight up doesn't mean anything, a lot of horses (maybe all of them?) do that when they get really excited. I have a Fox Trotter and her QH/cross colt and they both flag their tails when they run.

I don't see gait either, although he does have a build similar to a gaited horse. So I'm thinking either Saddlebred cross like you said, or maybe even draft cross.

PS. The heavy bone and feathering is what makes me say draft cross. He's lovely! I love a big, sturdy horse and the coloring is gorgeous!

Did you say how tall he is?

My guess is saddlebred, draft, and QH/paint. Saddlebred because of his hind end; the flat croup, and how he's a bit camped out behind. Draft because he has good substance to him and a big head. Saddlebred and draft because of his longish cannons, good shoulder, and long face. QH or paint because his neck is too low set for a saddlebred or draft, and because of his size (though size isn't a big factor).

These profiles of his head strike out any possibility of him having arabian blood...
Unfortunately raising their tail is not an exclusive arabian trait- I'm 120% sure my fat little paint doesn't have any arabian blood in him and he holds his tail up and thinks he's the hottest thing in AZ while doing it.
He might be a cross between a paint and a saddlebred or some such, he seems to have a pretty narrow body which is why I'm thinking he's more likely some cross of saddlebred or a gaited breed (not all of them gait).

narrow for sure

He is Narrow for sure, partially because he was underweight when we got him. but its also his build.

My purebred Standardbred used to raise her tail right up and prance like an Arab, but she was 100% Standardbred ;)

I don't know what your boy is, other than absolutely gorgeous! I'd love to see pics once he's gained some weight, he looks like a special boy!

Satin Reign aka "Misty"... my life, my love, my everything.
