Any opinions on Lusitanians?
So I usually ride a white 27 year old Lusitanian bull fighting horse named Litri which was brought over for bull fights held in Macau
before the handover in 1999, and which had to stay on since Macau is such a bad quarantine zone for horses.
Even though this boy is old he's got quite the attitude. My sister once described him as having a constant smirk, as if he's laughing at you, and if he's not ridden properly he won't ride at all. I've had rides in which not only he wouldn't listen to me but he wouldn't even listen to the keepers at the small place where I ride, basically deciding that that was enough riding for the day.
He also usually needs to have his box locked with a but and screw (it's an improvised box with just a metal bar that runs shut) or else he'll open it and just go play in the ridding area (which is right in front of the horse boxes, because the place is so small).
Once, when to talking to a friend of a friend whose father bred them that guy told me that this breed has the characteristic of not liking being touched at all, which this particular horse showing that trait, always trying to squeeze a bite every time I try to pet him. The guy is crazy brave although he doesn't seem to like water at all.
I was wandering if anyone here has had any experience with this breed. I know that they're very similar to Andalusians, if not practically the same thing, both being descendant from the Sorraia pony, an Iberian breed. I know that the actress Darryl Hannah breeds them.
I was reading the threads on Arabians and I was laughing at how much these horses seem to have in common personality wise.
Anyway, some good photos of the horse in question, me and my friend Natasha who usually goes riding with me can be found here.
