Any Welsh Pony breeders out there?

I would like to find out more about the breed, their uses, pro's and con's to the Section A ponies.

What are acceptable crosses to a Welsh pony for sport ponies?

I just got a two and a half year old filly mostly for a pasture buddy for an 6 month old filly I have, but I also plan on getting her broke to drive for pleasure. Is there anything else I need to know?

I attached some pics of Bella.

Oooh, she's cute! How tall is she? I am also interested in Welsh cross sport ponies as I will be bringing home a 2 y.o. Welsh x Hanovarian next weekend. She is right around 13'1" now but I am hoping she will mature to somewhere around 14 hands. She is registered half Welsh, but I also hope to register her as a sport pony once she has been evaluated. I'll post pictures once I legally own her and get her home.

You might find some good information at the North American Sport Pony Association.

Thanks! Bella is fully grown she is about 11.2 hands tall. She is a Section A pony so she will not be over 12 hands tall.

She is not the typiest of Welh section A's I've ever seen.

Welsh A's whilst used as kids ponies were not initialy bred as such and hence can have attitude with a capital A!!

They are quite athletic generaly. Good crosses tend to be with the British riding pony, arab or TB's. though personaly in this economy I'd just buy what you want rather than attempt to breed it.

Pro's: Good hardy pony with plenty of bone, capable of carrying an adult, live off fresh air.

Con's: tend to be prone to lami, attitude, bolshyness and acts of escapeeness.

RIDE your horse FORWARDS and keep him STRAIGHT
