APHA and AQHA points

I'm just getting into the horse world. I've always loved horses, and I know enough to know what I need and such.

My mom was a trainer before I was born.

But now that I'm getting prepared for my first horse, and have decided to go either APHA or AQHA, actually, I'd like a double registered horse, I've come across an issue.
That issue is I totally do not understand how the points system works.

Can someone please help me?

I know how it works for AQHA. It is probable close to the same for APHA. Their have to be three horse in a class to get a half of point
5 horses
1 fst 1 pint
2 nd 1/2
10 horses
1 st 1 1/2 point
2nd 1 piont
3rd 1/2 piont
15 horses
1st 2 pionts
2nd 1 1/2 points
3rd 1 point
4th 1/2 point

And so on. You also have catagories. Novice amiture amiture select amiture and opein. Those are the adult classes.
Youth novice amiture youth amiture and opien. Are the youth classes
Points can get crazy when going into all around awards.
Have any more questions let me know

I think APHA is the same as AQHA but here's the point thing:
5 horses in the class: First place gets 1 point, second gets a half
10 horses: First gets 2 points, second gets a point, third gets a half
15: First gets 3, second gets 2, third gets 1, fourth gets a half
20: First gets 4, second gets 3, third gets 2, fourth gets 1, fifth gets a half

And so on
