Breeds were made by man. We the humans, took the qualitites we wanted and we created Racehorses, cow horses, jumpers, etc.

Every breed DOES have it's differences. And some things were bred into a breed and some things were not. You can take a cow horse and jump it, but it's not going to win the Grand National. And you can take a thoroughbred and team pen with it, but it may be too spooky to enjoy it. YES, THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO EVERY RULE. But in General, there are traits in the breeds that are expected. I expect an arab to have high energy. I expect a warmblood to be tall. I expect an Appaloosa to be intelligent.

We created these breeds to do what we needed them to do. The Appaloosa( topic of THIS thread) was bred by the Nez Perce indians. They bred for good feet, intelligence, bravery, and easy keepers. They bred for color also, but the first qualities were more important to them. This has nothing to do with discrimination, it is about differences in breeds.

And having differences is perfectly fine. I don't see what the problem is.

Hope you have fun with your new project! I am sure you will love him/her?

I don't think you can really say what the breed "Appaloosa" temperment is like.. just like people and anyother creature on the planet every horse is different and unique in the way God made it.

I have two appies, both of them I do western.

My filly is really smart and food motivated,
My geldign is not food motivated, and is stubborn. It really depends on the individual temperment of the horse.

Lilly is two she is my "project" I guess but I plan on doing cutting with her..

Caesar is 20 which I kinda a shock because he still acts alot younger..

Then Lilly is the same way.. she is Awesome I love appies... and have never considered any other breed

More pics

(no one was hurt )

Sry for all the pics it is another hobby

Also no need to get huffy this is not a topic worth fighting over..

Beautiful appies. I love the Roach. I really like a mohawk on an appy. But nothing to grab when going up hills. I roached mine last year, but had too many hills and had to let it grow out.

I can't say they are like qh in training situations. Appies are alwasy thinking of what they can get into or looking off into the distance for something more interesting to do. They need to be into everything.
this is a perfect discription of Both my appies!! :P

I'm not saying anything about how the horse looks or its traits like what it can do physically or what it was bred for i'm talking about the moods and so fourth. I'm tired of people saying stuff like a quarter horse is calm a mare is moody and blah blah blah. It gets on my nerves because not every horse is the same. You can think that way all you want but its not the same.
