Appy people, question about certain bloodline.

My instructor picked up a Goer mare that is foundation App and Appendix cross. She heard it was racing bloodlines on both sides, the mare even has a tattoo. She was probably purpose bred for racing. My question is, are Goer lines like 'new' foundation or 'native' foundation? I wqs told Goer is old lines, but is it Native American/ Indian lines or just old American cow pony lines?

I know nothing about Appaloosas, so just wondering about her.

There are no Native American Appaloosa lines.

Haha...Goer was nowhere near "foundation". He was 62.5% Quarterhorse, 25% Thoroughbred, and only 12.5% Appy. He was an Appy in ApHC's stupid registration policy and color only.

Nonetheless, he is an ApHC Hall of Fame stallion, and has greatly influenced the Appy population and was one of ApHC's top sires. In answer to your question, he would be considered neither an old foundation Appy nor a modern Appy, but the niche in between.

I have used Goer lines and they are very good, of average prepotency, and cross exceptionally well with Thoroughbreds. This is a stallion of mine with a strong Goer/Wapiti line, a strong Thoroughbred line, and a strong foundation line, that makes for a tall, very athletic and fast horse...

Diamond Goer Appaloosa

Thanks Faceman. She's a tall, athletic mare, and a rescue. I appreciate the straight forward answer.
