AQHA- do I have to join?

I have not transferred ownership on Citrus' papers into our names yet. I am ready to do so but was wondering do I have to join in order to put him in our names? Also, can my daughter, who is 7 and his rightful owner, be the one in his papers? I do want to eventually show him in AQHA but that is a few years off so I don't want to spend the money if I don't have to.

Some associations have a higher fee for non-members, others require a membership. Did you check out their website? You could contact them to ask if you can't find the answers there. (I don't know anything about AQHA)

What is the procedure for transferring?

Receipt of a completed and signed Transfer Report for each ownership change, the original Certificate of Registration, and $15 for a current member or $55 for a nonmember. Membership may be purchased at time of transaction.

Can you transfer ownership to a child's name?

Yes. However, the membership fee for a youth is $15 (we will need the youth's birthdate) in addition to the $15 transfer fee. If an adult and a child are joint purchasers, an open membership is required.
