Arabian breeding

Okay. I'm new to the Arab world. Is there a difference between pure Egyptian and Al Khamsa Arabians? Also, is there anyway to show a 1/2 Arab if the registration has been "lost"?

Yes, there's a difference. The best website for Al Khamsa is Al Khamsa, Inc. for straight egyptian it's The Pyramid Society

As for showing without registration, you won't be able to show breed shows without the number, but if you know the registered name, you can call the AHA and talk to them. They're super nice people and very willing to help.

So, are all Al Khamsa also Egyptian but not all Egyptian are Al Khamsa? And on AHA pedigree does it specify which are Egyptian as opposed to Polish, etc.

Is there a general concensus that having one type is more sought after than the other (ie Al Khamsa, Egyptian, Polish?)

No, there is no "more desirable". It's very much about personal preference. Find a horse with a personality, physical ability, and look that fits what you want and go with it.

AHA doesn't specify breeding "type" as far as Egyptian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, CMK, etc. Any good best will be able to tell you that about their horses, though. Some even go as far as to specify percent of each type. I.e. My horse is straight Egyptian and thre breeder has the breakdown of percentage of the major strains. I used to have it, but it's been lost.

From what I understand of Al Khamsa, it's more of an American organization. It's not necessarily a "type". Yes, all straight egyptians fall under al khamsa simply because they can all be traced back to the bedouin foundations, same for most if not all part egyptians. But, not all al khamsa are straight egyptian.
