Arabian Horse Datasource help [half-Arabian]

Is there a way to look up specific breed crosses on Datasource?

I'm at jury duty [so I have a ton of time on my hands] so I'm using my time to troll through Datasource looking for Fabio.
I know, with 99% accuracy, that his dad was a Lipizzaner and his mom was an Arabian - is there a way to look for just horses with Arabian dams, or am I stuck looking through everybody?

The other hard part is that I don't know his exact year of birth, so I'm looking through everything 1999-2005...it's a HUGE list! haha

You can try to narrow it down a bit by clicking on the 'Additional Display Fields', which will allow you to sort by Dam, or Dam colour.

I tested this by searching with the following fields:

Stud book--HAHR
Gelding
Grey
All states
Foal years: 1995-2005
Additional Display Field?: Dam

That got me down to 1465 horses.

The list looks like this:

(example)

Banner El Gato HAHR*1A316802 19 Mar 1995 GREY SEYNRA GATO Gelding

The way it's written, Seynra Gato is the dam, and she is either PB or HA (in this case, PB). If the dam is not a registered Arabian, the listing would look like this:

Cignal HAHR*1A318427 15 Jun 1995 Grey [there is a gap here which indicates that the dam is not a registered Arabian/HA] Gelding.

So you could try going through this way, and just not bother looking at the horses without a dam listed.

You could also try going through this way, except use the 'sire' in the Additional Display Field. The horses with the 'gap' would indicate that the sire is NOT an Arabian or HA. Same number of horses to go through, though.

The issue with going through the blank sires is that you would need to know what registry the sire is in (presumably LANA, but not necessarily).

Your best bet would be to search using the Dam in the Additional Display Field, and going through the horses listed with a dam.

(You may need to repeat the process using 'stallion' in the gender field if his previous owner didn't bother to update).

You can't discard the non-Arabian dam results, but it's easy enough to simply not click on them, which will still make your search a bit easier and faster.

Sorry guys, I lost track of this thread for a second!

@jaydee I completely agree. But I feel like it could maybe happen, so I'm trying to do what I can. :) I'm an optimist at heart. haha :)

@Yogiwick according to the vet, his teeth are [to her estimation] a pretty accurate indicator of his age. He was sold to me as supposedly a 10 year old, but I later found more information that claimed that he was actually 11 when I got him. The vet confirmed that age while doing his teeth.
Given the accuracy/inaccuracy of teeth, the fact that I have no 100% proof of age, and the fact that his teeth are a little goofy, I feel like a larger window is better. :)

@Sweeney Road THANK YOU!! That is AMAZING. I ended up running out of time to do it myself. I really appreciate you looking.
If you feel like continuing to look, I would LOVE that.

Here's more info, in case that would help: Fabio is chestnut, with stockings on all 4 [definite stockings in back, might be listed as "right fetlock/partial sock, left fetlock sock/partial stocking" in front], star, light strip, snip into left nostril, and lip spot continuing into lower lip.
He does have a very small belly spot that may, or may not, be included.

He went to auction in 2012, so any recorded owners would have to be before that. He definitely did not have papers at auction! He was listed as an Arabian, so I'm not sure if the owner that sent him to auction even knew about his Lipizzan side...

The Lipizzan registry [USLF] that I'm working with can tell me if the horses involved are possibilities - Fabio's dad isn't registered with them, so that slightly narrows down the pool, and they'll be able to tell me if the horses we find are options based on that. :)

Thank you so much!

Do you know the colors for those other geldings you found, Sweeney? I so appreciate your help!

Basically, I had Texas A&M run their breed ancestry test on him and his results came back as Arabian/Lipizzan (another, extinct, breed was listed as well since the test gives 3 results, but that breed could have easily come from Arabian or Lipp lines).

I contacted USLF since they offer a sort of DNA reverse-look-up service for "unknown" full and part-bred Lipizzaners.
USLF ran him through their database and determined that he was not in their database, nor was a parent, but, based on a sex-linked gene he has, his mom was 99% likelihood to have been Arabian and his dad was Lipp.
They were also able to confirm that he has a "high percentage of Lipizzan alleles" so, unless both his parents were Arab/Lipizzan crosses, the chances are high that he's a 50-50 cross.

:)
Unfortunately, it's not a lot that is actually helpful with DS :(

I agree about DS! I'm hoping to be able to look again after getting paid this week, but we'll see. I wish it wasn't so expensive!
