Glad they figured it out.

Once you know the number it is easy to see how that could be it. I admit, I never would have gotten that though.

Dam Name: Clouhalo
Color: Dark Bay or Brown

Hmm.. interesting, I dont see anything but the last 05 in there.

How did they end up knowing it was him? Based off markings?

Good question. I believe the Jockey Club does??? The horse MUST be tattoo'd in order to race. Could be either the breeder *I highly doubt it* or the Jockey Club.

Do they have to be Tattoo'd to be registered? Or can they be registered prior to tattooing?

Interesting question!

I think it was the comibination of the two BaliDoll.

I went to the American Jockey Club's website and clicked on their "Free Tattoo Research" link and became a registered member. Then I had to give them all the information I could of the horse in question.

Since I didn't know what was what with his tattoo, I had to give as good of a description of him, including photographs to help them.

So they did a search on the information I was able to give them, which wasn't much - so they were seaching for a needle in a hay stack.

So then they responded asking for photogpraphs of his Tattoo, so I submitted the two I posted here - and then this morning POOF, there was the information.

I can take it or leave it. There is really no "positive" this is definately the horse, written in stone - so the info they gave me was based on the photographs and the best description I gave of him.

To be really sure, I could hire a representative from the Jockey Club to come and read his tattoo for me in person and go from there - ??

Wow... I didn't see ANY of that but the last 5. The last 5 is fairly distinctive. I have to say though - I'm quite skeptical, he doesn't look 20!!
JDI, you know, there is something in the back of my head that is just going "hmmmm". BUT when I got him 3 years ago, he was 16. So he is either 19 or 20. So they have to be right. But I too am skeptical.

The Jockey Club did say that he possibly is 19, beacuse he was born late in the season and alot of the time, the owners will "flub" their real age to race earlier. So they said "possibly" he was born in 1990, but was marked at 1989 to put him in the 2 year old races.

I don't know what the facts are. I wish I could find his registered papers to be sure.

I have to say that I'm not all the surprised about his age, his teeth definatly look like he is around 20, but would have to see the side teeth to be sure.

Body wise he is in GREAT condition he looks wonderful! How long have you had him?

I'm glad you were able to find out more information about him. :)
He is up there somewhere, but to be "100%" sure, I'd have to have someone from the Jockey Club to come and read his tattoo, or find his papers......

He was 16 when I got him, so - to be honest, he's been 16 for the last 3 years I've owned him.

Or has it been 2???? Oh oh..........*knocks forehead*

My Hubby says it has been 2 years. Why do I think 3?

~~

OK CORRECTION!!! I've owned Nelson 2 years now. Yes. So then the date cannot be correct. He has to be 18.

Oh poop. ....

*sigh*

I either have my math wrong, or the Jockey Club got the wrong horse.
