Canadian Horse

Does anyone here own a Canadian Horse and is familar with the breed?
I just got a very sweet yearling filly a few weeks ago and am in the process of registering her.
I've done a bit of reasearch online but haven't found too much about her bloodlines etc.

I look forward to chatting with other 'Canadian' owners

There are a few people. If you search the breed in the "search" option, you can look up some old threads.

Green Broke
I friend of a friend of mine nearby breeds them (not largly) but i'm not personally familiar with the breed. I do know that they have a very reputable temperment & are quite calm & smart ;) I'd LOVE to own one myself.

I was a bit surprised to find out that it is not a very common breed, considering they are "Canadians"... not too many breeders around though.
I was in touch with the owners of my fillies sire and also with the owners of her grandsire and of course, they both tell me how fantastic her lines are... It's not that I don't believe them though, they are both VERY nice people, I was just wondering what an 'outsider' would say

All I can say about our girl, she is super smart and quick on her feet! ... oh, and very pretty!

I knew a Canadian Horse. He was so sweet, gentle and calm it was almost scary. He ended up being a really nice horse

They are absolutely beautiful and wonderful horses. I used to own a Canadian. It's true that unfortunately they are not very common but they are also very expensive which is very unfortunate. I think it plays a huge part in why not many people own them.

The lady I got my girl from was forced to sell and didn't want to bring them to the auction (can't blame her!) so we did get her for a really good price... however, registering her alone is going to cost us about 350$
But it would be a shame not to do it...

I did notice that the few Canadians that I found advertised for sale are very expensive though...

I own a Canadian mare. It's a shame to think that they are so unpopular. We have had her sinse she was a little filly and the first time I got on her she just would more one bit :) She has so much personality to her!

They're expensive because they nearly went extinct and now everybody wants one. Breeders can't keep up with the demand.

If you want to know more about the history of Canadians try the book Little Horse of Iron by Lawrence Scanlan. (Though he does some really dumb things when it comes to his own horse life).
