Yearling
I have no idea what her parents were- I took her from a woman that didn't believe in feeding horses or giving them water in winter because "mustangs don't get fed or watered either". She told me she was full blooded miniature percheron. MMMhmm.

I know there is appy in there- from the mottled skin, striped hooves and sclera, but other than that? Your guess is as good as mine. My farrier and vet both feel she is part clydie, I can see that. Her legs and feet are thicker than my big quarter horse.

I do feel she is a bay also- but the dorsal stripe threw us for a loop- and with all the white coming, both spotting and now roaning on her butt, she is going to be odd looking for sure.

Bay. The stripe is countershading, not that unusual. Cute :)

Green Broke
I'm glad this thread popped up - the rescue pony I'm getting in is a bay, registered as a bay, but also has a dorsal stripe, which I had never seen before. It's not a true black dorsal stripe (best I can tell through the mud) but I also knew Hackneys can only be black, bay or chestnut - was hoping I didn't get swapped papers! I didn't know bays could get counter shading - so thanks for teaching me something new today!

How old is she?

Her markings are adorable! The way she is roaning, and the light snowflakes starting remind me a lot of how my filly started. Do you have a full body shot of her?

Yearling
She will be 2 years old in August.

I have some of her from this winter but not her shedded out full body- Gotta get on that! I really love her conformation, I think she's going to be an awesome little mare.

I would say Bay. I know a Qhorse/Paint mix and he has almost the same problem. He is a solid "bay" but his legs aren't really black, and his mane and tail are lighter colored on the tips. His is still a yearling, so he has some growing to do. He is registerd as a bay though.
