Do you think he is pure appaloosa?

Legacy is around 15hh but he seems very stocky, I've never had an appy before so I don't really know their build, what do you guys think?

And last, this is my trainer on him, this was his first time being ridden since I got him(6 months earlier) He was a rescue and very timid when he came here so we wanted to give him lots of time to settle in

He is soo handsome!!!

He looks like an appoloosa to me. He has the charecteristics of one, such as the sparse-er mane and tail, and the eye (I can't think of what they call it).
But, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some QH back in his lines, maybe even some paint. Its pretty common to see Appys with some other stock breeds bred into them, and seeing he is a rescue, that may very well be the case.

Congrats on owning such a pretty boy!

EDIT* The eye pattern is called a sclera. I remembered it.

im not sure but he is one smexy looking horse :]
Also just a side note but your saddle looks to be resting on his withers and back a bit to far.

Well Appy's are a color breed so i'd say he's pure so long as he has the pattern. As for his foundation breed, it could most likely be of QH lineage.

You took the words out of my mouth lilruffian. An Appy can be any breed, as long as it meets the requirements. Appy is just a colour, not a breed.

Yes I know that saddle doesn't fit him It is my other geldings saddle, we only used it that once, i'm borrowing my friends saddle until I can get one that fits him, he's so **** wide it that when he moves his shoulders the saddle slides back, Thanks for noticing that, it's good to know people catch stuff like that

He looks all Appy to me. He is very nice looking. Has the long back of appy's and has nice bone and great big feet!
As for the saddle, next time someone is in it, see if you can put at least two fingers under the pommel (the arched part in front). If you can't, then the saddle is too wide and is sitting down too far and pressing on his withers. Must be remedied promptly or will make him a sour horse. Take my word for it.

(It is hard for us to see from the photo. Might be ok if the padding is filling up the space visually. Do the finger test, unmounted andmounted.

who ever had him before they sent him to new holland took pretty good care of him, freshly set shoes, good weight, his teeth needed some work but not terrible, I can't imagine why they would have sent him there...
As for saddle fit, to me it always seemed like the saddle wasn't wide enough? And because it wasn't wide enough it didn't fit on his shoulders and with every step it would slide back, I tried using a breatcollar but it didn't help much, I'm looking to get a new saddle it's hard tho because I don't have a lot of money and the nearest tack shop is an hour(and we don't have a trailer) so there really isn't any way to ensure a proper fit, I don't really trust my judgment

By what I can see, he is Appy, with his possible sclera, mottled skin and I think, striped hooves. But why do you say he has the long back of appys? That's sort of like saying, 'He has the long back of bays."

Appaloosa is a colour, found in several breeds. It is not just one breed.
