Smile Do you think my appy will change his color?

Do you think my appy will change his color? If so what color do you think he will change into and when?

He is 2 1/2 and does have a random white dot on his upper right side of his neck and alot of whiteish grey that is on the top of his back.

It looks to me like he might be starting to roan out. I would expect him to get more and more roaned as he ages. It's pretty hard to tell from just one picture though.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

I think he's starting to go towards looking like his dam, just a different colour. He'll stay the same colour, just have a lot more white on him.

My best guess would be he will not since he's already 2.5. At least I've never seen it happened.

I had an appaloosa that was born bay with one small spot on his rump. When we got him at one he had little white hairs on his withers. When he was two he roaned out. Before I sold him he was more white than bay.

Appies change all the time, some wait until they're 10 to start changing, so his age doesn't change my opinion at all, which is he will likely roan out more :)

He will definitley roan out like his momma. As a baby, his coat was very solid, but if you look on his back, you can already see white hair. My boy was born sorrel with a white blanket, but his momma was a blue roan QH, so he is getting more and more roan each year. And it wouldn't surprise me that of he gets a scratch, the hair will grow back white, as on my boy as well.

I've seen appy's born bay with just a few white and black spots on the rump go white with black and bay spots and a black and white streaked mane and tail. didn't start going more white till she was 3.

Myth= Free/Cheap horses are expensive.
Indy was $150 we keep her in a pasture with a shed for free and she is brushed and fussed over dailey. Other then deworming and feet trimming she isn't costing us anything.
