I don't know how I truly feel about cloning.
If they could clone Bask or KHemosabi I might be interested in breeding to a clone of theirs.
We cannot stop progress and with the growing world population and diminishing resources cloning may indeed play an important role in the future of certain species.
It is too early to tell how and if it will be successful.
Thankfully the cost is so outrageous I will not be remotely interested in the procedure during my lifetime. Shalom

"Clones" aren't really clones

When I first heard about this case I did some research and found some really interesting articles about cloning. The upshot of what I read was that "Clones" are not identical copies of the "parent". That's why they can be different colors or have different markings. "Clones" also seem to have more health problems than naturally created beings.

Here are links to the articles I read if anyone is interested:

As I understand it, there has been a lot of controversy in the Arabian breed over the clone of the stallion LD Pistol who is mentioned in the articles above. There are threads on the Forums at Arabianbreeders . Net and Chronicle of the Horse that talk about some of the legal ramifications involved with a "clone". Interesting topic.
