The mane is easy, but very thick and it's easier to use clippers (for me anyways) They can be a little stubborn, but nothing major. Viking is incredibly sweet and level headed, if he's never experienced something he's a bit slow to want to touch/stand/be near it, but he's no spook. He looks and with a little encouragement he goes right ahead with out a second thought, and the next time it doesn't bother him :)

I've never owned one, however I have spent some time with two. One will scream a hello at first sight and gallop to you, then follow you around with his nose on your shoulder. He is LOVELY to ride, I am a nervous rider and I ride him tackless. The other one is younger, about 3, but he is so quiet and sweet. He acts like a much older horse.

Heres my guy Viking.

Really? I did look up Fjord and you are right. I wonder what our big boy is though. He sure is build like a Fjord. We didn't by him for his breed. We liked his training and his build and he's just a riding buddy to us. We got him for next to nothing. He is a cross with something but she didn't know what he was crossed with. I'll have to post him under the breed forum and see if anyone can figure out what he is. He's a big beauty though.

Possibly an old style morgan cross or draft cross? He's super thick, I love it!
