Foal's adult size?

Not exactly sure where to put this...
We have a 7 1/2 month old Quarter horse colt who measures 12.1 hands right now. His sire is about 14.3/15 hands, and his dam is 15.1. Any ideas how big he'll get?

Any way to guess how big he'll get?
What age do they stop growing usually?

I always measured from the cornary band to the center of the knee
ie. 15 and a half inches would be 15.2 hh full grown
15" = 15hh
worked for me evrey time. It also works on adult horses, try it :)

Same with me, Spotted! I have tried it with all my adult horses and it works every time. According to that, my Morgan colt will be 15.2 or 15.3 hands.

Like others have said in one way or another, the cannon bone is the same at birth as it is for life, so it is a reasonably reliable "indicator". I had a bay gelding that grew 2 hands between his 3rd birthday to his 5th. I knew he "would/should" be about 15 hh, and b/c I like shorter horses and was happy w that "prediction"; he ended up at 16 hh.

There is just as much horse sense as ever, but the horses have most of it.

A good guess would be about 15HH based on sire and dam. Could be taller, could be shorter. Nutrition and environment have an impact as well :)
