Has anyone registered their horse FQHA or NFQHA? I haven't really looked in to the showing aspect of it, was just wondering if anyone does show or how points can be earned etc. I haven't picked up my new horse yet so I don't know what his registered name is. (I haven't asked) but I did pull his dam and sires papers and I'm pretty sure that he is qualified to registered in both associations. Once I get his AQHA number I'll probably pull the percentages.

Just looking for thoughts on it.

If I was going to show FQHA would be the way I'd go over AQHA breed shows. They still want to see a natural looking horse moving in natural gaits. I've never looked into NFQHA to know the difference between it and the other foundation registry.

I first ran across FQHA when they had a booth at the Hoosier Horse Fair umpteen years ago. I tried to talk them into letting me register my paints with them since they'd qualify on the foundation percentages but had no luck. LOL

This site explains the differences beween different foundation organizations. It is an OLD site, but I think the basic information is sound.

My trainer is a member & has shown NFQHA. I think it has a more stringent requirement for percetage of foundation blood and they have some shows in OR (where they are based). Don't know about any other places though. Also into the natural and non-blingie show turn out.

At one point I checked them out to see if I wanted to join or which my horse would qualify for. Don't recall the specifics of what made my decision, but decided if I was to go with one, I'd do the NFQHA. Still am thinking about it ...
