Half Quarter horse half mystery ?

Hey everybody! So this is my rescue horse hunter, Everybody calls him a Quarter pony. They say he has quarter horse in him but what else is a mystery? He is only about 13 1/2 hands. If anybody has any comments,or ideas due to his disposition, colors, traits, and features of what other breed he may have would be great.

That sure looks like a mustang to me, but the size is odd. There are hints of draft in him, but there are certain groups of wild mustangs that have a lot of draft in them, from way back when the US gov . released draft studs to "improve" the mustangs for farmer's use.

That's interesting cause I've never considered the possibility of mustang or draft, but only because of his size.I'm going to look into that, :)

Hard to say - perhaps Haffie or Shetland, but he does look a lot like a mustang - could even be a cross with a drafty mustang...

The first thing I saw was some sort of draft breed too, I don't know much about Mustangs so I can't comment on that, but I have a friend with a draft cross and she's only around 15 hands, so they can still be crossed with a draft breed and be smaller Your guy looks bigger than 13 hands to me, but then again I have no frame of reference in the photo so could just be an optical illusion Have someone stand next to him and list their height haha! I trick people all the time into thinking my 14.3hh horse is bigger because I'm only 5'2" so in pictures I make her look bigger than she actually is!

I have a mustang, and his body looks like that exactly. Not the head, but each heard looks different. I'd say mustang for sure. I don't see QH in him at all.

Unfortunately it's hard to say anything 'looks like a mustang' since there is no standard to mustang conformation. I owned a mustang mare that looked straight up like a spanish horse, and a friend of mine has several mustangs that look nothing alike... I think he has some sort of pony breed like haflinger or maybe welsh.
