You have a PM, for everyone else the # has to do with Horse Recording and points in performance and nothing to do with breed. In order for points to work though and be "good" she'll have to apply for a Transfer of Ownership from ALL organizations horse was recorded with (could be as little as 1 org or as many as 6), and also join said organizations before she can show horse at a recognized event.

And now we've all learned something today YAY!

Thanks Void ...

I have always shown other peoples horses and never had to deal with all of these "numbers" on my own (trainer/parents took care of it).

And thanks to everyone else for helping me figure it out

Yea it can get complicated the more organizations you join! (since more paperwork is involved haha).

I think the worst I've had to deal with was borrowing a friend's horse who had a Life Membership but the mother of said friend had let her membership lapse so at the show we had to play phone tag with her and the show secretary's to have her join again at the show since I wouldn't be able to show said horse if owner wasn't a member. It was bad and super confusing but eventually we got it all down before I had to enter the ring.

OK, to help us folks who haven't had to do this because we show in breed shows or other disciplines understand .....what organization is the number issued by? What other orgs record this number/require membership to count points? What type of shows and points does this pertain to?
Thanks!

It's a USEF/USHJA HID or horse identification number. A lot of smaller state and regional organizations that are affiliated of USHJA (like WCAR, PCHA, NorCal) that way H/J points in rated divisions will count for Zones and Year End Awards. :) Hope that helps.
