    Help with TB Info

I just got a OTTB gelding, and he's got a tattoo, but that's all I know! I would like help looking up the information on him, his number is A00519 and he's 12 years old. He's solid sorrel. I was told he was raced for 4 years. If I could get his registered name even I'd really appreciate it! Thanks in advance, Megan

If you sign up at the jockey club site you can access the tattoo look up and get the free 5-cross pedigree for him, order any racing records you may want (those do cost), etc.

His sire is Numerous. He has some well-known blood (ie Native Dancer, Northern Dancer) but most of the horses on his pedigree aren't ones that jump right out at me as ones I know.

How and when do they tattoo the horses? Do ALL thoroughbreds that raced have them?

    I have always wondered that....

Not all TB are tattooed...USUALLY they are tattooed when they have entered training. Just because a TB is tattooed doesn't mean that it has raced.

If you want a copy of your horse's racing history, contact the TB Racing Protective Bureau. They will mail you a copy within a few weeks. TRPB Tattoo Branding Here's a link. They were super helpful when I was researching my horse's tattoo which was missing a number.
