I'd also bet he was left "whole" for quite a while because he would try to breed his favorite mare all the time when she came into heat. =P
I don't really blame whoever owned him though if they kept him as a breeding stallion because he is conformed pretty well and he was super well trained so I bet he was someone's little show pony before his life took a turn for the worst.
