Exclamation is this horse to small for me...please give opinions

I am 5 foot 3 inches and 95-100 pounds. I am looking at a horse maybe to buy, hopefully.
The horse is 13.5hands high.
And it is half arabian and half quarter horse, healthy, sound, and 16 years old.

Is it too small for me, and whats the biggest rider you would put on him.
Also what is the smallest horse that I could ride...comfortably

I'm thinking it matters only when it comes to weight. Some horses have a small frame (like quarter horses or arabians (though not all)) and others have bigger framed bodies (like haflingers). Both can be around 13 hands. So it really depends on the horse. A picture would be helpful to evaluate.

Btw...No horse can be 13.5. Sounds like the horse would be maybe 14.2. (there are only 4 inches to a hand.)

I'm sure others will chime in here.

Do you mean 13 and a half hh? That would be 13.2, not 13.5... ;)

I think pics would help us determine better if you are a fit for him or not...if he is large framed you should have no problem with that height.

here is the link to the ad.

The horse that is 13.5hh is the $500 horse in the ad. Don't know which one is which on the pics, but assuming the smaller one.

Thanks

No, you're not too big. I'm 5'2'', 110 pounds & i rode a 13.3hh pony for quite a few years. She had taller girls riding her before me & her new owner's dad (at least 6 feet) got on her & rode her around as well. They're tougher than alot of people think. You could probably even get away with riding something around 13.1, 13.2hh ;)

I'm 5'6''!
I felt like my heels were dragging the ground!!!

The rule of thumb is no more than 20% of the horses bodyweight. Good luck! He's a cutie!
